As part of New York fashion week, last Sunday saw the city's Soho district host the show of Yohji Yamamoto's SS12 Y-3 collection, which is dedicated to London's hosting of the 2012 Summer Olympic games. The collection combines Olympic inspired sportwear with the UK capital's street aesthetic, incorporating checks, plaid, the Union Jack and mod-inspired prints. 'To me, London style is a funky elegance,' said Yamamoto, speaking about what inspired the collection. 'It’s not just downtown. It’s not just punk. It’s also polished. We tried to capture that.'

Onlookers at the show included actors Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Pitt, NBA star Dwight Howard, and British socialite Peaches Geldof.
