Remember foreign exchange programs at school? Well now fashion is getting in on the act, with 30 independent boutiques from New York and London swapping places. From 20th August to 13th September, various brands usually peddling their wares in Carnaby Street's Newburgh Quarter will decamp to the Lower East Side in NYC where visitors will be treated to catwalk shows, tea parties and various other Brit-tinged events. Then from 1st October to 1st November it's NYC's turn to visit London, complete with a guerrilla street fashion show, a New York style street market and fancy dress parties.
Amongst the London-based brands taking part in Wish You Were Here are Twenty8Twelve, Social Suicide, Fred Perry, Beyond the Valley, Cowshed and Concrete, whilst NYC brands taking part will include the likes of In God We Trust, Still Life, Earnest Sewn, Shut Skateboards, Harris Levy and Hairy Mary's Vintage. For full details of the event, visit the Wish You Were Here website.
