LOVE ME
Ruth Hogben

Fashion filmmaker Ruth Hogben’s films have never been renowned for shying away from the sensual side of life and her new short – Love Me, created for SHOWstudio’s new film season on the provocative but age-old subject of Fashion Fetish – is certainly no exception.

Featuring burgeoning supermodel Karlie Kloss, it’s a fashion-fuelled ode to sensual pleasure with zero shackles: dressing up, getting a dressing down and, in short whatever else it is that tickles Kloss’ fancy. Shot with Hogben’s distinctive flair for marrying pacey visual sequences with a thrilling soundtrack (see her music video edits for Lady Gaga and fashion films with designer Gareth Pugh) its both dark and upbeat - sexy but never sordid.

The twist in this tale (the clue’s in the title) is that Kloss’s catalogue of fetishes seem to come from a world of her own invention, and centre firmly on the lady herself – a neat reference to the fact that Love Me is the first in a series of films based on sex explored entirely from a female viewpoint. Actresses, models and creatives already confirmed to appear on the roll call of upcoming films include Asia Argento, Aimee Mullins, Amanda Harlech, Daphne Guiness, Liberty Ross, Lily Donaldson, Rei Nadal and Dasha Zhukova.

Tied into SHOWstudio’s Shop exhibition, Selling Sex  the season promises to be something of a landmark occasion in bringing women’s views of sexuality to the fore  - no small feat amid a fashion industry still dominated by the male lens.
