Melissa+Lourenco

Since your news feeds are about to be flooded with men's wear, we thought we'd give the girls a last blast. Crocs for fashionable people? Jelly shoes for grown-ups? Or the footwear of the future forwardslash recent past? Whatever your thoughts, these seamless rubber-souled styles are set for another spin around the runway.

Melissa, the cult Brazilian footwear brand, has announced their new designer collaboration with Pedro Lourenço. Following on from the designer partnerships with fashion houses Vivienne Westwood, Gareth Pugh and Jason Woo.

The partnership, “Melissa+Pedro Lourenço” will launch with two styles for Resort 2013, Melissa Number N° 1 + Pedro Lourenço, a sandal available in several colourways and Melissa Divine + Pedro Lourenço, the classic reworked flat with contrasting colour gradients.

Of Melissa Lourenço said, “Melissa invited me to design a shoe with total freedom. Melissa is an amazing company and I was immediately excited with all the possibilities plastic has to offer.”

The Melissa+Pedro Lourenço collaboration will launch during the Resort 2013 presentation in New York along with an installation by curator Maria Montero which will be showcased at the oh-so-cool Galeria Melissa on 102 Greene Street, SoHo.
